ReHome Center has received a grant from the Community Foundation of Fox River Valley

ReHome Center is pleased to announce that it has received a $7,300.00 grant from the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley to be used for the purchase of a box truck for delivering furniture and household items to families in need and a computer software program for communicating with partner agencies more effectively.

Having a truck will help us serve more clients, as well as allow us to provide donations of larger items. The truck will also give ReHome visibility in the community, as it will have the ReHome logo painted on it, which will increase awareness and donations from the surrounding areas.

“We were finally able to house a gentleman that was homeless for two-years,” says Jenna of ( HOPWA) Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS “ReHome Center helped us give him a real home to call his own.”

The software will enable ReHome Center to provide a list of household items that the organizations can offer their clients. This makes it easy for all of ReHome Center’s partner agencies to place an order with ReHome Center and then concentrate on providing help they are specialized to give, knowing that the clients will have a secure and comfortable home base.

ReHome Center’s mission is to transition items from a comfortable home to those that need the comforts of home. ReHome Center works with several local agencies, Lazarus House, CHIPIN Batavia, Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans and Open Door, to name a few. Each organization works with people who are homeless or low income and have household needs. Some may be transitioning from homelessness and need an entire apartment furnished.

ReHome Center helps agencies help families who are in Kane, DuPage, DeKalb, Kendall, and other surrounding areas. These families, who are struggling to make ends meet due to low incomes, are in need of household items that some of us take for granted, such as beds, linens, and cooking items. All of these items cost money, and when there is not enough money to cover all of the needs, sometimes families have to make choices of either, paying the rent, buying food or having a bed. Gail Schlesinger, co-founder of ReHome Center states,” everyone should have a bed. That is our main goal. With this truck we will be able to make sure that happens”.

Carolyn Fabian, co-founder agrees and states that, “with our logo on the truck people will know that we are out there changing lives and that they too can help by calling the number on the truck.” ReHome Center will take gently used items that people no longer need and make sure they go to someone that could really use them. ReHome Center has a warehouse in St. Charles and an office and small item drop off in Geneva.
