Letter To The Editor
I want to express the gratitude of staff and residents of Provena McAuley Manor to the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley for approving a grant of $12,000 for McAuley Manor Residence. This is the second floor of our facility. Since the Fall of 2011, changes have been made in this area to create a welcoming residential space. The large nursing station has been down-sized. A small sitting area with comfortable chairs now serves residents and family members. New flooring has helped make the whole area less institutional. The grant from the Community Foundation will cover some of the cost of extending this new flooring to the adjoining hallways.
Provena McAuley Manor is continuing to change the culture of its long term care services. The Continuum of Care division of the new Provena/ Resurrection ministry encourages all homes to take culture change seriously. One goal of culture change in long term care is to create environments that are person-centered rather than task oriented. Current changes in McAuley Manor Residence have the potential to do this. Knowing that the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley supports our efforts is a wonderful affirmation of that belief from persons who know us and value our services. Information regarding the Community Foundation can be found atwww.CommunityFoundationFRV.org.
Those who visit us in 2012 should continue to see further changes in our services thanks to the Community Foundation and all our generous donors. We are most grateful.
