Marklund, a not-for-profit organization specializing in the care of children and adults with profound disabilities, received an $8,330 grant from the Community Foundation of Fox River Valley to purchase therapeutic standers for its Mill Creek Campus in Geneva, Illinois.
A therapeutic stander is a piece of equipment that starts in a seated position. It supports an individual’s knees, hips, and sides and has the capability of safely raising the individual into a standing position. This equipment creates a standing opportunity for any individual who can bear weight and provides optimal orthopedic alignment. Standers are used on a daily basis at Marklund.
“We are so grateful for the support of the Community Foundation of Fox River Valley,” said Vicki Krystof, director of corporate and foundation relations at Marklund. “This gift enhances our therapy program with up-to-date equipment that addresses the changing needs of the aging adults we serve.”
The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley is a collection of individual funds and resources given by local citizens to enhance and support the quality of life in the Fox River Valley. In 2011, the Foundation awarded more than $2.3 million in grants to non-profits. Additionally, over $720,000 in scholarships was awarded to local students.
Marklund is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that makes everyday life possible for individuals with profound disabilities.
