The First Tee of Aurora & Fox River Valley is pleased to announce receipt of a $9,250 grant from the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley.
These grant dollars will be used to purchase much needed computer equipment for the management of the many First Tee programs and day to day business operations. The Aurora Chapter is one of over 200 non-profit Chapters nationwide that strives to transform the lives of all young people through character education and the application of life enhancing values through access to the game of golf.
The First Tee school program introduces golf in the Physical Education classes of approximately 40 Aurora area schools. This curriculum is taught by First Tee staff and PE teachers during the school year. The school program reaches out to children who qualify for the free and reduced lunch programs, offering them opportunities to attend the summer program at no charge.
The summer program at the Phillips Park Golf Course provides opportunities to help children improve their golf skills, while emphasizing the knowledge and understanding of The First Tee Life Skills curriculum.
The Board of Directors and The First Tee Staff extend their many thanks to the Community Foundation for this most generous grant and their kind support of the First Tee of Aurora & Fox River Valley. Such support will allow The First Tee to positively impact more and more deserving young children throughout the Fox Valley community.
