Receives $13K Grant From Community Foundation

Dear Editor,
The Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry would like to express its gratitude to the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley for awarding us a $13,000 grant for our technology upgrade project. The Pantry will purchase computer equipment and software to improve our operations and record-keeping capability. As a result, we will be better able to communicate with our supporters about our needs and the value of their support to the individuals we serve. We will also be able to more efficiently monitor and track our distributions to ensure we are serving all those in the community who may be experiencing hunger.
The Pantry, located in Aurora’s Hesed House complex at 659 S. River St., provides supplemental food to individuals and families who live in the community and are unable to provide adequately for their nutritional needs. These are persons who are facing the recent loss of a job or a fire or health emergency and need temporary help, as well as many who are underemployed, disabled or on fixed incomes. In the current economic environment, the Pantry is finding its services in ever increasing demand. In September of this year alone, the Pantry received 171 new requests for assistance.
Our heartfelt thanks goes to the Community Foundation, as well as to their donors who have made these funds available. We appreciate their confidence in our ability to accomplish our mission to provide food and nutritional assistance to those in need in a humanitarian and compassionate manner.
