Alice C. Schuler, 98 of Aurora, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2010. She was born November 3, 1911 in Aurora.
Alice was a graduate of St. Nicholas Grade School, East Aurora High School and Northern Illinois Teachers College. She was a member of Annunciation Church, the Catholic Order of Foresters and Women of the Moose. She loved going to garage sales and buying crazy gifts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Alice was an avid reader since she began checking out books from the Brady School Branch Library when she was about 10 years old. She enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends, especially every Monday at the Phoenix Club.
During her working career she worked at the Dixie Creame Donut Shop, Modoff's Grocery Store, Bur-Han Drug Store and after mandatory retirement from Aurora Federal Savings and Loan at age 65 she was employed part-time as a records clerk at the Old Second National Bank for over 30 years.
Survivors include her son, Alan H. (Margaret) Schuler; her daughter, Linda K. (Melvin) Oros; grandchildren, Leah Schuler, Michael (Renee) Schuler, Adam (Abby) Schuler, Paula (Mark) Lampert, Mark (Jean) Oros, Michael (Ann) Oros, David (Denise) Oros and P.J. (Lisa) Oros; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; also her sister-in-law, Helen Reuland; a step-brother, Darrold Doyle; and a special friend, Jeannie Poirel.
She was preceded in death by her husband N. Harold Schuler in 1965; her father, John Reuland Jr; her mother, Elizabeth (Weber) Reuland Doyle; step-father, Edward Doyle; brother, Donald J. Reuland; in-laws, John and Mary Schuler; and grandson, Jeffrey Schuler.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 26, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. from The Daleiden Mortuary to Annunciation Church at 1:00 p.m., Fr. George R. Glover, O.S.B. will officiate with interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 25, 2010 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. with a Liturgical Wake Service at 4:00 p.m. at The Daleiden Mortuary, 220 North Lake Street, Aurora.
