(Established 1989)

Christine A. Ponquinette

The Christine A. Ponquinette Memorial/INC Board Minority Student Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to African-American and Hispanic students who are pursing a degree in social work.  In the awarding of these scholarships, preference is given to students enrolled in Aurora University’s School of Social Work.

These scholarships are named for Christine Ponquinette (1941-1992).  Mrs. Ponquinette was a professor of social work at the College of St. Francis and was named chairperson of the Social Work/Psychology Department.

Prior to holding this position, she was employed by the Department of Children and Family Services.

Mrs. Ponquinette served on the boards of directors of the Mental Health and Mental Retardation Services, Inc., Community Action Agency of Will County and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Will County.

Christine Ponquinette was married to Dr. Charles Ponquinette, former superintendent of the East Aurora School System.
