Eleanor Caley Pearson Main (1917-2011) was born in Ottawa, Illinois. After graduating in 1934 from Ottawa Township High School, Mrs. Main studied at Eureka College and Illinois State University at Normal. She received her teaching degree from Aurora College. Mrs. Main taught school in Ottawa, Illinois for five years and at McCleery Elementary School in West Aurora School District 129 for twenty years, retiring in 1976. She was active in Girl Scouts, Minerva Coterie (fifty-seven year member), American Association of University Women (honorary fifty year member) and Education Foundation Fellowship recipient, Woman's Club of Aurora, Midwest Early American Pressed Glass Club, Chapter HC of PEO in Aurora and Chapter NE of PEO in Naperville. In addition, she was a former member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Aurora, member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Naperville, member of the YWCA and the retired Teachers Association of Kane County District 7. Robert Main (1914-1996) was born in Luverne, Minnesota. After graduating from Luverne High School in 1932, he attended Carleton College and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1936. He was a second lieutenant in World War II in Virginia and also served in the China-India-Burma Theater. Mr. Main was in sales, retiring in 1978. He served on the vestry of Trinity Episcopal Church, was a member of the Elks Club and was on the board of directors of Spring Lake Cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Main were married in 1942 and moved to Aurora in 1953. Together they volunteered at Mercy Center Hospital and enjoyed the outdoors, golf, bridge, reading and travel. They also treasured time with family. They were survived by daughters Peggy Main and Sally (Main) Adrian of Naperville, grandchildren Catherine (Mauritz) DeRidder, Dan Adrian and great-granddaughter Cora DeRidder.
