Ben Horonzy Memorial Scholarship Fund

(Established 2011)

 Ben Horonzy

Ben Horonzy (1979-2008) was born in Buffalo, New York. His family moved to Geneva, Illinois when Ben was five.

He attended the Fourth Street School, Coultrap Middle School and Geneva High School.

As a young boy, Ben participated in soccer, little league baseball and the school band.

In high school, he excelled on the Geneva football team and received honorable mention for the all conference team.

In 1997, he enrolled at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The following year, he attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he received a degree in communications in 2001.

After college, Ben worked in sales for several companies. At Stiefel Laboratories, he received numerous awards, such as Chicago District MVP and the prestigious President’s Club Award that is reserved for the highest performers.

In January 2008, he was promoted to a sales executive position at Stiefel and was in the process of moving to Atlanta when he died.

Shortly thereafter, his family and friends created a scholarship at Geneva High School to pay tribute to his life. The scholarship now is administered by the Community Foundation.

The Ben Horonzy Memorial Scholarship Fund honors the spirit and passion that Ben brought to his relationships.

He has been described as kind, compassionate, fun-loving and respectful. He had a winsome smile with a personality to match.

Ben was an unforgettable boy who turned into an unforgettable man.
