Garfield Farm Museum Historic Administration Scholarship Fund

(Established 2008)

Garfield Farm Museum

The Garfield Farm Museum Historic Administration Scholarship Fund was created by Ron Yenerich of Oswego to provide scholarships for students pursuing careers in historic administration or related fields of study.

Preference is given to students demonstrating a strong commitment to the preservation of historic sites through their work-related, volunteer or other community activities.

Recipients of these awards are given special consideration for the Garfield Farm Museum’s Graduate School Internship Program.

Garfield Farm Museum is a 370-acre farmstead, which includes 45 acres in wetlands, savanna and prairie.

Three original 1840's buildings - the 1842 hay and grain barn, the 1849 horse barn and the 1846 inn - survive on the site.

The last Garfield family owner, Elva Ruth Garfield, founded the museum in 1977 as an educational center to teach future generations about America's prairie farm heritage.

The museum is located on Garfield Road, just north of Illinois Route 38 between Geneva and Elburn, Illinois.
