Doebert Family Scholarship Fund
in Memory of Edward E. Doebert

(Established 2010)

Edward E. Doebert

The Doebert Family Scholarship Fund in Memory of Edward E. Doebert was created within the Community Foundation by the Doebert Family to honor the memory of Edward E. Doebert (1956-2009).

Mr. Doebert graduated from East Aurora High School in 1974 where he was active in band and was the editor of the yearbook.

He was a teacher for Hinsdale School District 181 for twenty-seven years. While working at the elementary level, he was the educator for gifted students.

When Mr. Doebert moved to the middle school level, he redesigned the 8th grade science curriculum to reflect best practices in education.  He had a passion for the arts and sciences and loved working with his students in the classroom and in extracurricular activities, such as, the elementary outdoor education program and the middle school summer studies of the Mangroves and Coral Reefs.

His father, Eugene Doebert, was born in Aurora on February 7, 1929.  He passed away on November 1, 2011 at the age of eighty-two.

Mr. Doebert was a graduate of East Aurora High School. He owned and operated Doebert's Garage, an auto repair business, for fifty years.

He was a former Third Ward Alderman and Director of Equipment Services for the City of Aurora

An active community volunteer, he served as the president of the Aurora Council of Clubs, president of The Tiger Athletic Association, member of the board of directors of the Aurora Easter Seals and second vice-president of the PTA of John W. Gates School.

His wife, Dolores Doebert, graduated from West Aurora High School and was active in PTA and girl scouts. She continues to reside in Aurora.

The Doebert Family wishes to honor Edward Doebert’s love of teaching by assisting an East Aurora High School graduate who plans to attend a four year college/university and major in education.
